Project overview
The HS2 Design Handbook was created to embed the HS2 Design Vision and strategy at the heart of design practice, and inspire HS2 teams and the wider supply chain to the importance of good design.
Design approach
The handbook needed to communicate a balance of technical and strategic information.
I developed a flexible layout system that brought clarity and structure to complex editorial content.
A modular grid was created to accommodate content of differing lengths along with imagery of varying sizes, while maintaining consistency across sections. Hierarchy and pacing were carefully considered to help readers navigate the document, identify key messages, and access further detail without being overwhelmed.
My role
I led the design, print management and production of the handbook for Issues 1 and 2.
